Social Acceptability
Despite 55 years of planned
development and social provisions done by the Indian government for accelerated socio economic development of weaker sections,
the gap in literacy levels among the general population and the socially disadvantage sections exist and in some cases the
gap is further widening. It is heartening to note that around 134 districts in the country have less than 10% literacy among
schedule castes and tribes.
Planning and Methodology
This project
is targeted on poor and impoverished children belonging to weaker sections belonging to the low literacy pocket identified
by the Indian Government. The Hostel is located in a rural area in identified district and has facilities to handle classes
1st to 10th standard with a provision for up gradation to 12th standard in future. Besides
providing education formal vocational programmes in rural industries like animal husbandry, agricultural and poultry etc are
also taught to the students.
Hostel has dormitory type accommodation
with one bath and lavatory for a group of 10 students.
All employed teaching staff
are proficient to import coaching form class 1st to 10th.
One teacher is looking after
day-to-day administration and teaching hostel boys, and he has been encouraged to look after the hostel as warden. He will
be paid an extra honorarium for doing so. One cook, one attendant, one part time sweeper and one governess are managing the
hostel in a smooth way.
Dr. K.P. Singh (M.B.B.S.), a local private practitioner visits
our hostel every month and provides routine health checkup and medicines to the boys if required.
